IRIS FBR Login & Digital Invoicing Portal Guide

An independent guide to the IRIS FBR login: IRIS vs the DI portal, where digital invoicing enrolment sits, common login issues, and being locked out.

An honest note before anything else: we are not FBR

Let's be clear from the first line. Aboha is not FBR, and this is not a government page. If you're trying to log in to IRIS, the only place to do that is FBR's own official portal — iris.fbr.gov.pk — and you should go there directly, not through a link in an email, an ad, or a search result you're not sure about. We will never ask for your IRIS username, password, PIN, or any credential, and no legitimate third party needs them either.

What this guide does offer is the context FBR's own screens tend to leave out: what IRIS actually is versus the "digital invoicing portal" people ask about, where digital-invoicing enrolment lives, why logins fail, and what to do if you're locked out. Think of it as the map, not the door.

IRIS vs the "digital invoicing portal": clearing up the confusion

A lot of the confusion around "FBR e-invoicing login" comes from treating IRIS and a digital invoicing portal as two separate destinations. They're really two different things doing two different jobs:

  • IRIS is your account. It's FBR's online portal for registration, enrolment, and filing — the same login you already use for income tax and sales tax returns. This is where you enrol for digital invoicing.
  • The Digital Invoicing (DI) API is the plumbing. It's the technical channel your invoicing software uses to submit each invoice to FBR in real time and get back a stamped record. You don't "log in" to it by hand day to day — your software does, using credentials issued to it.

So when someone pictures a daily "digital invoicing portal login," what they usually mean is one of these two — the IRIS enrolment module, or the API layer that sits behind their software. There isn't a third, separate consumer website you're supposed to visit every morning. Getting this distinction straight saves a surprising amount of frustration.

Where digital invoicing enrolment sits inside IRIS

Enrolment for digital invoicing is a module within IRIS, not a standalone sign-up page — which is exactly what trips people up when they go hunting for a separate site. You log in to IRIS with your existing credentials and find the digital-invoicing enrolment there, alongside the other modules.

Two things need to be in place before enrolment even makes sense: an active NTN and an active sales-tax registration (STRN). If either isn't sorted, that's the real first step — our NTN registration guide covers the groundwork. Once you're in and enrolling, the substance of the process — nominating PRAL or a licensed integrator, getting sandbox credentials, and certifying before you go live — is covered end to end in our step-by-step IRIS registration guide. This page is deliberately about the login and portal confusion around that, not a re-run of the enrolment steps.

Common login problems (and calm fixes)

Most IRIS login trouble is mundane, not sinister. The usual suspects:

  • Wrong address or a lookalike link. Type iris.fbr.gov.pk yourself rather than following an unverified link. If a page looks slightly off or asks for more than your normal login, stop.
  • Browser issues. Government portals can be fussy about older browsers, cached sessions, and blocked cookies. A current browser, a cleared cache, or a private window resolves a lot of "it won't load" cases.
  • CAPTCHA and session timeouts. If the CAPTCHA keeps failing or your session drops, it's often load or a stale tab — reload cleanly and try again rather than hammering the button.
  • Forgotten password or PIN. Use the portal's own recovery, which typically routes a code or reset to the email and mobile number registered with FBR — so those contact details being current matters.
  • Credential mix-ups after go-live. Confusing sandbox and production credentials for your software is a separate, common snag; that's a token-binding issue on the API side, not an IRIS login problem.

If you're locked out: official channels only

This is the part to be careful about. If you genuinely can't get in, the only safe routes are official ones:

Do not hand your credentials to a third-party "recovery" service, an unsolicited caller, or anyone promising to "unlock" your account for a fee. FBR account access is recovered through FBR, full stop. A legitimate software vendor helps you work with those official channels; it never asks you to surrender your login.

The honest bridge: you shouldn't be living in the portal

Here's the reassuring part. Once you're enrolled, you shouldn't need to touch a portal to invoice day to day — that's your software's job. Manual portal logins are for enrolment and occasional account tasks, not for issuing invoices one by one. If your daily routine involves logging into a website to push invoices through by hand, that's a sign the setup is doing manually what the Digital Invoicing API is meant to automate.

The whole point of digital invoicing is that submission, validation, and the stamped response happen in the background as you run your business — which also means the connection question (PRAL directly or through a licensed integrator) is worth understanding; our PRAL vs licensed integrator vs software explainer unpacks it.

So: log in to IRIS at the official address for what genuinely needs the portal, guard your credentials, and let good software carry the daily load. Questions about registration prerequisites are best put to your tax advisor. For questions about Tasdeeq by Aboha, which is live today, or the coming-soon Aboha Digital Invoicing, contact us.

Frequently asked questions

What is the official IRIS login web address?

FBR's official IRIS portal is at https://iris.fbr.gov.pk. Always log in there directly rather than through a link in an email or an ad, and check that the address is correct before entering credentials. We are not FBR and this page never asks for your login details.

Is the 'digital invoicing portal' a different website from IRIS?

Mostly no. Enrolment for digital invoicing sits as a module inside IRIS, using the same login you use for income tax and sales tax. The separate 'portal' people imagine is usually either that IRIS module or the technical API layer your invoicing software talks to day to day — not a second consumer login page.

Do I need to log in to a portal every day to send FBR invoices?

No — and if you find yourself doing that, something is set up inefficiently. Once you're enrolled, day-to-day invoice submission runs through the Digital Invoicing API from your own software, not a manual portal login. The portal is for enrolment and account tasks, not daily invoicing.
